I found this book to be much better than the first book in the series. The editing was far better, with only minimal grammatical errors. For that reason, I gave the additional star.In this second book, there is plenty of action and adventure. The POV's are much the same as the first book, with the addition of a couple of new ones. We are taken on a space trip between galaxies, which is interesting.
The characters are a little more diverse, and the story is just getting better. The author is definitely taking us on a ride in the "verse". It's hard to believe this is considered a sci-fi book, because it doesn't really read like one.
Overall, I enjoyed this second book in this series and will be reading the next. They don't end with awful cliffhangers, and each books plot gets resolved. Saying that, there is a common plot linking the series, which I hope gets resolved at the series end.

I was hooked from the very beginning. The characters are well developed and easy to like. Love the firefly influences.
A good second book in the series. Plenty of action with a few new characters introduced. Even with multiple POV changes by chapter throwing off the flow a bit, the story comes together better than the previous book. Annoying to see the MCs make a stupid choice regarding one of the brothers toward the end of the book (even the MCs call it a mistake while they are doing it) purely as a plot ploy. It's OK to to wrap up some plot threads in the second book! Also hints at a love triangle involving Capt Drake -- not needed or wanted in the next book.
A vampire in space? What could go wrong? I really enjoyed this book. Good stuff! I didn't want to put it down.
I‘m reading all of the author’s books in this series and it’s hard to stop and take a break. It’s extremely hard to find such an interesting and exciting author who not only writes intelligently but also provides top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories.
I love these characters. The Star Talon team is a formidable one. Each has their place, their speciality, the respect of Captain Drake and vice versa. Captain Drake, in particular, is drawn in a different direction in this story... much to the annoyance of the lovely, and loyal, Maze.
The story is great. Well, it had to be after the ending of the previous book! The action is full on and the contents of the box cause widespread panic and desire (sometimes at the same time!).
I thoroughly enjoyed this galactic adventure, and I can't wait to see what happens next. Getting in The Brotherhood of the Light's bad books? Never a good idea, methinks. Time will tell.
This is Serenity with a twist. Even some of the same names and locations.Anyone that loved Serenity will love this Series. The captain is a lot like Malcolm Reynolds from Serenity, the whole crew is real similar to the crew of firefly. They have Alliance Space and the Rim. This is an amazing series and if you liked Serenity by Joss Whedon you will like this series.
